Author Instructions
Submission
All submissions must use the official MIDL 2027 LaTeX template and be submitted through OpenReview. No alterations may be made to the font size (main text and tables), line spacing, or margins.
MIDL 2027 offers two full-paper tracks and one short-paper track:
- Main track: up to 10 pages (up to 12 pages after rebuttal) excluding references, acknowledgements, and appendices
- Special track - Clinical Translation & Validation: up to 14 pages (up to 16 pages after rebuttal) excluding references, acknowledgements, and appendices
- Short-paper track: strictly limited to 3 pages (excluding references); no appendices allowed
- Note: There are no page limits for the references and appendices for the full-paper tracks. However, reviewers are not required to read the appendices to evaluate a submission.
We encourage authors to share code, models, and datasets to promote open science and reproducibility, although this is not required for acceptance. Please refer to MIDL reproducibility guidelines .
To submit a paper, all authors must have a valid and updated OpenReview account. Please notice that new accounts created without an institutional email will go through a moderation process than can take some time.
Please ensure that your paper is registered on the system before the abstract registration deadline. No new submissions will be accepted after this date.
Full-paper submissions substantially similar to work accepted by, or simultaneously submitted to, another archival conference are not permitted. Posting a preprint or presenting work at a non-archival workshop does not by itself constitute prior or dual publication.
Review and Publication
Full-papers will undergo peer review, author rebuttal, and discussion. Reviews will be single-blind: reviewers will know the authors' identities, while reviewer identities will not be disclosed to authors.
Accepted full papers will be published in the Proceedings of Machine Learning Research (PMLR). Selected papers will be invited for oral presentation. Short papers will undergo a lighter review process and will not be included in the PMLR proceedings.
At least one co-author of each accepted paper must register and present the work in person, subject to the conference's accessibility and exceptional-circumstances policies.
Authorship Policy
The author list must be final at the time of submission of the full-paper. Additions, removals, or order changes after the submission deadline are not permitted (except minor spelling or affiliation corrections approved by the Program Chairs).
Policy on the use of Large Language Models
MIDL 2027 welcomes the responsible use of modern tools, including Large Language Models (LLMs), when preparing submissions, provided that authors maintain scientific integrity, originality, and full responsibility for all content.
Permitted uses: LLMs and other assistive tools may be used only for minor language edits, such as grammar, spelling, style refinement, readability improvements, or formatting.
Prohibited uses: Generating research ideas, study designs, analyses, results, or substantive text with an LLM is not allowed. All scientific contributions must originate from the authors.
Responsibility: Authors are accountable for the accuracy, originality, and ethical standards of their manuscript, regardless of which tools they used. LLMs may not be credited as authors.
Data & privacy: Some tools store or reuse text for model training. Authors should avoid entering sensitive or unpublished data into third-party services unless appropriate safeguards are in place.
General Guidance: LLMs must never replace authors’ critical thinking, due diligence, or validation of references and claims; Only humans may be listed as authors; Violations may result in desk rejection, withdrawal after acceptance, or other corrective actions.
